Blessings; A girl child

Image
A world without a girl, is as impossible as a world without water. Photo credit_Google . There is no gainsaying that water is important to our everyday life, it is key to our survival. Such is a girl child to nature, she is a blessing to her parents and the larger community.  In our contemporary society, most girls grow up with so many invisible strings pulling them from different directions which over time make up a mindset for most girls. In Africa, when a woman gives birth, the first question mostly asked is, "Is he a boy?" Only a few add girl to the question. Well, that depicts the value placed on the female gender. Cultural belief has painted the impression that the existence of a generation is hinged on the shoulder of a man. Alas! On the flip side of the coin, without the female gender, this can not be achieved. Also, without her, procreation will hit a firm resistance. So, female gender can be likened to water which turns the dry land into a productive one. Though, so...

Are you a parent or guardian? Do you criticize your child more than you praise him? Are you always angry when supervising his home work or chores? Do you shout or slap or maybe spank the child, because his not meeting up to your expectations?  Take it easy. Having a high expectation of your child is normal, placing a child under pressure, or beating him for making mistakes would not yield the results you want.   A researcher at the University of Pretoria, Centre for child law, Isabel Magaya said, when children are exposed to violence in the home, there’s a high possibility for a boy when he grows up, to become a perpetrator and for a girl when she grows up, to become a victim. Low self esteem and depression in children, parents to be blamed?

Image
Perfection is God's business, we are human.  Perfection does not exist in reality. No one is perfect, nothing is perfect. Perfection is merely a man's illusion, it simply doesn't exist in the universe. The man whom is regarded as the most brilliant theoretical physicist in history, Stephen Hawking said, One of the basic rules of universe is that nothing is perfect. Perfection simply doesn't exist... without imperfection, neither you nor I would exist. Imperfection, they say is beauty, it is better to be ridiculous than to be boring. An American novelist and a nonfiction writer, Anne Lamott said, perfection is shallow, unreal and fatally uninteresting. Again, according to An American computer scientist, Jaron Lanier, seeking perfection in human affairs is a perfect way to destroy them.  In the world today, some parents place unnecessary pressure on their children, because they expects perfection from them. Having a high expectation of your child is normal and can be hel...
